Spotlight: Carhartt Reworked and Repair

Meet Carhartt Reworked and Carhartt Repair… expanding circularity for workwear and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for May 7.

Carhartt, the iconic American workwear brand founded in 1889, is known for its rugged durability and connection to hardworking communities. Known for rugged workwear built to last, Carhartt has doubled down on its sustainability efforts with two standout programs: Reworked by Carhartt and Carhartt Repair. As a brand known for legendary durability, Carhartt sees it role in keeping its products out of landfills and on the job as second nature.

Carhartt Reworked is the brand’s recommerce initiative, launched to give like new and previously-worn Carhartt gear a second life in the hands of even more hardworking people who need it. Through a dedicated online storefront and 50+ Company Stores, Carhartt collects, restores and resells gently used items — extending the lifecycle of products and reducing textile waste. Reworked is powered by Trove, a leading tech enabler in branded recommerce, and reflects Carhartt’s intention to reduce clothing waste and support more responsible consumption. According to the company, over 12,000 trade-ins were received and more than 80,000 reclaimed items purchased through the Reworked program in the 2023-2024 period, reflecting an estimated 86 tons of product diverted from landfills.

Complementing this is Carhartt Repair — a consumer-facing resource hub that empowers customers to keep their gear in use longer. Through step-by-step guides and expert tips, the brand encourages a fix-it-first mindset over fast fashion habits. Carhartt offers three custom repair kits with the buttons, zipper sliders and fabric patches needed for many repairs. The brand also offers in-store repair assessments and – in some cases – on the spot fixes.

Whether it’s pre-worn jackets or repaired workwear, Reworked and Repair together reflect the company’s “work hard, waste less” ethos while offering shoppers a more sustainable way to wear the brand, extend the life of their garments and embrace a more circular future.
