Spotlight: Reformation

Meet Reformation… sustainable apparel pioneer and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for August 27.

With a mission “to bring sustainable fashion to everyone,” Reformation is a Los Angeles-based apparel company founded in 2009, known for its trendy yet timeless fashion designs with an eco-conscious focus. The brand gained popularity for its minimalist aesthetic, featuring dresses, denim, and casualwear that cater to a fashion-forward, environmentally aware customer base.

Reformation is at the forefront of sustainability in the fashion industry. With a recognition that apparel materials make up two-thirds of the company’s environmental impact, Reformation is striving to source 100% of their fabrics from recycled, regenerative or renewable materials by 2025. In selecting materials, Reformation considers water impact, energy input, land use, price, GHG emissions, human toxicity, eco-toxicity and more. With a commitment to circularity, Reformation also is working to make 100% of its apparel recyclable. Additionally, the company advocates for circular fashion by offering its “Happy Endings” resources, including clothing repairs, a resale platform and a recycling program to reduce waste. Reformation tracks and publicly reports its environmental footprint, aiming to be carbon-neutral by offsetting all of its emissions through various projects such as forest preservation and renewable energy initiatives. Through these efforts, Reformation is striving to redefine sustainable fashion by creating stylish products with a smaller environmental footprint.
