Spotlight: Abbot’s

Meet Abbot's… craveable, health-forward food purveyor and the #SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day for August 13.

Founded in 2017 by Kerry Song, Abbot’s (formerly Abbot’s Butcher) emerged from farmers markets in Southern California with a bold vision: create plant-based meat alternatives that deliver real flavor, texture and satisfying performance without artificial additives or synthetic ingredients. Today, their lineup includes items such as protein veggie burgers and plant-based ground beef, chorizo and chopped chick’n -- all crafted from simple, wholesome ingredients like pea protein, herbs, spices, extra virgin olive oil and vinegar. Their clean‑label approach (soy-free, gluten-free, no gums or artificial flavors) has helped them expand into mainstream retail, including Target, Whole Foods and Sprouts Farmers Markets as well as through Hungryroot, Amazon Fresh and Instacart.

Abbot’s builds environmental stewardship directly into its products. Their plant-based meat alternatives generate an estimated 83–90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions and use 75–89% less water than traditional animal agriculture. Abbot's also partners with Replenysh to reclaim 100% of the plastic they put into the market, recycling it back into the circular economy. Together, these efforts make Abbot’s not just about taste but about positive, measurable impact on climate and waste.
