Spotlight: UpChoose
Meet UpChoose… bringing parents joy, affordability and sustainability in baby clothes, and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for May 20.
UpChoose is rethinking how parents shop for baby clothes by offering a sustainable rental alternative to the overstuffed dresser drawer. On a mission “to activate consumers’ role in transitioning to a sustainable future,” UpChoose helps design pathways for parents to a more thoughtful consumption model solving for joy, convenience, sustainability and affordability – all done at a key life moment when they are prone to adopt new habits.
Designed for newborns through toddlerhood, the platform provides curated, high-quality organic cotton wardrobes on a subscription basis. Parents choose a style and size bundle, and UpChoose delivers a ready-to-wear capsule wardrobe – used until ready to swap for the next size. All items are returned, refreshed and reused by the next family, creating a shared circular system.
The environmental impact of baby clothing is surprisingly significant: the average child goes through 7-8 clothing sizes in just two years, wearing through over 280 pieces during this time. UpChoose addresses this waste head-on by promoting reuse over fast fashion and prioritizing certified organic materials that reduce chemical exposure and farming impacts. By extending the life of baby garments and eliminating overbuying, UpChoose helps families lower their footprint, reduce clutter, save money and avoid the stress of clothes shopping – all while still dressing their children in stylish, safe and practical clothing.
UpChoose represents a thoughtful shift toward sustainable consumption at one of life’s most high-turnover stages.
