Spotlight: Worn Wear by Patagonia

Meet Worn Wear by Patagonia… an OG in recommerce and circularity, and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for April 16.

Patagonia has long been a gold standard for mission-driven business, blending high-performance outdoor apparel with a deep-rooted commitment to environmental and social responsibility. One of the clearest expressions of this ethos is Worn Wear, Patagonia’s recommerce and repair program designed to keep gear in play and out of landfills and change the way we consume. Worn Wear is an OG in recommerce offerings, having launched with clothing swaps that evolved into pop-ups, global repair events, an online resale shop and a brick-and-mortar store dedicated to used gear.

Through Worn Wear, customers can trade in used Patagonia clothing and gear in exchange for store credit, which is then cleaned, repaired, and resold at a discounted price on the brand’s dedicated resale platform. To support consumer confidence, Worn Wear items are authentic Patagonia products and are covered by their Ironclad Guarantee. Patagonia also removes consumer friction by implementing Trove’s Resale Plugin, a tool that allows the sustainable apparel brand to integrate pre-owned items alongside new products on its e-commerce site, offering shoppers a streamlined way to browse both options. Patagonia is aiming to perform over 100,000 repairs annually, backed by a global network of repair centers and a partnership with iFixit, offering free, brand-specific repair guides that empower customers to fix zippers, patch holes, and keep gear going strong. Patagonia also takes Worn Wear on the road with its mobile repair truck, hosting events across the U.S. (and beyond) where people can get their gear fixed for free, learn repair skills, and engage in hands-on circularity — making the Worn Wear movement as accessible as it is impactful.

With an estimated 85% of clothing ending up in landfills or incinerated in the U.S., Patagonia continues to prove that circularity isn’t just possible — it’s good business.
