Spotlight: Avallen Spirits

Meet Avallen Spirits | BCorp… a planet-positive spirits company and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for August 20 (and recently-named finalist for the 2024 Drinks Sustainability Awards!).

Founded in 2019, Avallen Spirits is a modern and innovative drinks company on a mission to produce a delicious, naturally-made spirit while becoming the world’s most sustainable spirit from blossom to bottle. Their flagship product, Avallen Calvados, is a French apple brandy made in the Normandy region. The brand is known for its commitment to transparency and sustainability, offering a spirit that is free from additives, colorings, and sweeteners, and created from apples grown without pesticides.

Sustainability is at the heart of Avallen’s operations, and the company prides itself on being a certified B Corporation, recognized for its positive impact on the environment. Each bottle removes more CO2 than it takes to produce via the carbon sequestration of the apple trees. Avallen only uses 1.2L of water to make per bottle – 70-95% less than the industry average. The company’s packaging is available in lightweight recycled glass, the FrugalPac paper bottle or the low waste, low carbon ecoSPIRITS platform. Avallen donates at least 2% of turnover to organizations working to save struggling bee populations.
