Spotlight: Lightship

Meet Lightship… bringing RVs into the electric age and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for February 5.

Lightship is an electric RV company founded in 2020 with the goal of revolutionizing the recreational vehicle industry through sustainable design and innovation. Based in the United States, the company was started by those seeing an opportunity to modernize RVs for an electric future. Lightship recently unveiled the AE.1 Cosmos Edition, described as the world's first Aero-Electric travel trailer and designed to work seamlessly with electric vehicles and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Sustainability is at the core of Lightship’s RVs, which are built to minimize environmental impact. The AE.1’s aerodynamic design significantly reduces drag and complements the TrekDrive power system's e-axles, improving towing efficiency and extending the range of electric tow vehicles to near-zero range loss. The AE.1 operates as a self-contained microgrid, equipped with its robust battery and solar system (embedded on roof and awnings), allowing travelers to run climate control and appliances for weeks of off-grid living. Additionally, Lightship prioritizes the use of lightweight, eco-friendly materials in its construction to further enhance energy efficiency. Deliveries are scheduled for the summer of 2025 and will be followed by production of other variants of the AE.1 (Atmos, Panos, and Terros) at additional price points.
