Meet The Travel Foundation… global enabler of sustainable tourism and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for January 7.

The Travel Foundation is a global nonprofit organization established in 2003 to support the sustainable development of travel and tourism. Based in the UK, the foundation works with destinations, governments, businesses, and communities to create tourism models that balance economic benefits with environmental and social responsibility. Its mission is to ensure that tourism contributes positively to the destinations it touches, enhancing local livelihoods while preserving natural and cultural heritage.

Through research, advocacy, and collaborative projects, the Travel Foundation helps transform tourism into a force for good. A co-author of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism and a founding member of the Future of Tourism Coalition, the organization promotes responsible practices across the tourism value chain, from reducing carbon emissions to improving the management of natural resources. The Foundation also works closely with local communities to design tourism strategies that align with their needs, ensuring that economic benefits are shared equitably.
