Spotlight: Girlfriend Collective

Meet Girlfriend Collective… sustainable activewear innovator and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for May 10 (special congratulations for being Solutionist of the Day #150).

Girlfriend Collective is a U.S.-based activewear brand known for its commitment to ethical production, inclusivity and sustainable materials. The company offers a wide range of apparel, including leggings, sports bras, tops and outerwear, and provides sizing from XXS to 6XL. From the outset, Girlfriend Collective has emphasized transparency in its supply chain and material sourcing and has received attention for its efforts to represent diverse body types and identities in its marketing and product design.

Sustainability is core to Girlfriend Collective’s business and brand. Starting in 2016, the brand was among the first to make performance activewear from recycled materials, now including five core premium post-consumer recycled fabrics (Compressive, FLOAT, Reset, Luxe and SuperTrack. Now, 100% of their collections use over 50% recycled polyester, and their clothes are toxic-free.

To deliver on their commitment to circularity and recyclability, reduce waste and extend the lifecycle of their products, Girlfriend Collective has implemented Girlfriend to Girlfriend, a resale platform for secondhand garments, and ReGirlfriend, which allows customers to send back worn items for recycling.

The brand’s packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable, and they offer a carbon-neutral shipping option for all online orders in partnership with EcoCart.
