Meet Booking Holdings… enabling travelers to make sustainable travel choices and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for November 15.
Booking Holdings is one of the world’s leading providers of online travel & related services, provided to consumers and local partners in more than 220 countries and territories through six primary consumer-facing brands. Through these brands, Booking aims to simplify travel planning, offering tools for flights, car rentals, and attractions, in addition to accommodations, to create seamless travel experiences.
With a sustainability focus on making sure “there is always a world worth experiencing,” Booking works -- at scale -- to help travelers book more sustainable trips. To make sustainability data more consistent and available to travelers, the online platform has worked to collect sustainability information on more than 1.4 million properties, including 16,500+ accommodations with third-party certifications. To support accommodation partners, Booking has worked with UN Tourism to launch a series of free digital courses on key sustainability topics in hospitality and tourism. Booking’s platform and travel tools also help travelers make additional sustainable choices beyond accommodations, including reserving electric and hybrid vehicles, booking electric and hybrid taxis, selecting public transport options for in-trip travel, and understanding emissions footprints of flight choices. Booking’s industry collaborations for sustainable travel include Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and Travalyst.
Through these efforts, Booking.com is empowering travelers to make more informed, conscious decisions, contributing to the global push for more sustainable travel and tourism.
